Clinical psychologist, writer Mikhail Khors on September 17 told how to recognize seasonal depression, and also named the factors contributing to its occurrence, and what type of people it is most characteristic of.
In conversation with RT he explained that in the fall, daylight hours are shortened and many are deficient in vitamins D and E. In addition, the vacation period is ending and there is a need to get up earlier.
The expert noted that because of this, physical fatigue accumulates. In addition, according to the psychologist, for some people, this period in itself has a negative impact on the emotional sphere.
As Khors clarified, it is precisely this type of people who have a tendency to suggest to themselves the idea that their life should develop “linearly and only for the better.”
“Therefore, when their tone goes down, they internally protest, emotional tension arises, and, adding up, these two factors provoke seasonal depression,” Horse emphasized.
According to the psychologist, those people who do not have such thoughts are ready for a temporary deterioration in well-being and a decrease in efficiency. Because they view life as a “wave-like process” and such changes do not become painful for them.
If you’re feeling lethargic, tense, and in a downtick in general tone, Hors recommended “lower the level of demands” on your efficiency and comfort.
“A person has heard enough bloggers and pseudo-gurus who say: everything depends on you, you can do everything, you will succeed, and he lives in a certain euphoria, but in reality he is faced with the fact that not everything depends on him. And this conflict is the denial of their right to wave-like development, ”concluded Horse.
Earlier, on September 15, clinical psychologist Irkyam Akhmerova told what behavior can indicate signs of depression in the early stages. According to her, at first the disease has certain symptoms: loss of appetite, apathy or increased anxiety, as well as a lack of positive emotions from those things that used to give pleasure.
Also, psychotherapist Irina Krashkina said that people who are ready to provide support to others, but cannot calculate their own emotional strength, are usually more susceptible to autumn depression.
In order to combat depression, Krashkina advised me to organize a cycle of classes related to physical education or art. There must also be activities that bring joy to a person.
