In the modern world, memory problems are increasingly beginning to disturb the younger generation. Psychologist Eduard Mavlyutov spoke about the non-obvious reasons for this phenomenon on August 31.
According to the expert, the deterioration of memory and brain function in young people is often associated with an unconscious violation of a healthy rhythm of life.
“Such causes, unlike diseases, are much easier to eliminate. And when you change an inappropriate lifestyle, the problems of bad memory disappear, ”Mevlyutov explained in an interview with Lenta.ru.
The doctor explained that the constant flow of information overloads the brain, which, like a computer, begins to “freeze” due to the huge number of tasks simultaneously solved by a person. At the same time, the brain continues to consume information.
Mavlyutov stressed that multitasking has already been recognized as ineffective: it leads to a decrease in memory, attentiveness, and nervous disorders.
One of the main enemies of brain health, the psychologist called chronic lack of sleep. According to Mavlyutov, when a person gradually sleeps, his brain simply does not have enough time to restore and synthesize new cells. As a result, the process of storing and reproducing information suffers.
Another reason for the deterioration of mental activity is the abuse of junk food and caffeinated drinks.
“Constant brain stimulation with caffeinated drinks leads to memory loss. The effect of coffee lasts only 20 minutes, at first a person experiences a sharp rise in energy, and then a sharp decline, such drops are extremely undesirable for the brain, ”the psychologist emphasized.
The deterioration of memory and the ability to concentrate, according to Mavlyutov, is also facilitated by excessive attachment to gadgets.
“Notes, reminders, social networks and contacts are all in one device, so a person does not use the capabilities of his brain to 100 percent. The brain saves resources and performance, which leads to its relaxation and reduced functions, ”summed up the specialist.
Earlier, on August 31, psychologist Raisa Bogacheva spoke about ways to memorize a large amount of information. She clarified that schemes and associations could help with that.
