The Congress has admitted another self -denominated “anti -occupation law.” This time, the proposition is signed by Junts and, unlike the previous proposals, has broken the usual parliamentary balances. But not as has happened on other occasions throughout the legislature, when assumptions such as Junts, the PP and Vox have coincided in the vote. This time, the PSOE has joined the block and has voted ‘yes’, although other similar laws raised during the Legislature have seen their debate for the continuous expansion of amendment deadlines decided by the Congress table.
The proposition of the law thus begins its journey with 300 votes in favor and 44 against. The ‘Sies’ add up to the favorable votes of Junts, which signs the text, of the PP and Vox. Something common in very specific laws in recent months. The PNV has also supported the norm, following its previous positions in the field. But this time the PSOE has also joined. Reluctantly, as a deputy with gallons recognized, but has joined so that the alternative majority of the three rights would not be displayed again.
The proposition has thus collected a very wide majority in a topic that usually breaks the camera in two. And that all the groups that have voted in favor, except the proponent, have criticized the content of the law.
The PP recalled that in Congress there is already a law in process on this matter that, according to deputy Cristina Agüero from the gallery, has been “more than a year waiting to be debated” because, he said, from the table “they have paralyzed it with 40 extensions” to the amendment period.
Agüero has said that the norm raised by the PP the occupation of housing “would end in eight months”, and has assured that its law is broader and more deep than that of Junts. “Many measures are not in this law,” he said, as “the eviction in 24 hours, making it impossible for you to register or the tightening of sentences for those who profit.” “Because the illegal occupation is a crime,” he added, and Spain is “the only country in Europe where a occupation has more protection” than the owner, he stated.
The PP deputy has expressly addressed the PSOE to ask that “they do not say that occupations are a bully”, but “a tragedy that thousands of citizens and families live.”
And precisely the deputy of the PSOE Guillermo Hita has defended that there is no generalized concern for the occupation and that “the data does not corroborate” the alleged alarm that, he said, those who defend these laws. “Allanation and usurpation is already contemplated in the Criminal Code,” he defended. “The State Security Forces and Bodies act according to the system, urgently in case of searching immediately.
The PSOE deputy has recognized, yes, that there is “social concern in some areas”, and has opted to “protect the right to private property, but also access to housing” collected by article 47 of the Constitution. Hita has claimed a “firm and holding step” and a “legislation that affects the solution” because “the market does not work for itself”, as “already demonstrated” the immobiliria crisis of almost two decades ago.
Both speeches have converged in a ‘yes’ to the proposal of law, which has collected the rejection of the parliamentary left of adding, ERC, EH Bildu, Podemos and the BNG.
But Nor has Vox’s speech has been very favorable to the rule raised by Junts, although the Ultra party has also chosen to vote in favor. His spokesman on Tuesday, Carlos Hernández, has assured that the government deliberately hides “thousands” of cases of occupation that “decide to opt for informal conflict resolution roads”, a euphemism for violent unemployment companies that proliferate throughout Spain.
Vox has also taken the opportunity to reinforce his xenophobic speech, and he has concluded his speech: “Given this position, we must send an absolutely unequivocal message. On the proposition of Junts, almost not a word.
