The PSOE starts its Congress in search of “revitalizing leadership” to confront a PP with a “coup speech”

The best defense is always a good attack. It is one of the conclusions that can be drawn from the first day of ’41 Federal Congress of the PSOE which is being held in Seville this weekend. The socialists have closed ranks in their first statements with the Government’s actions regarding the declaration of Juan Lobato in the Supreme Court.

Cerdán, for his part, recalled that the popular party has not held a Congress for nine years and that its current leader arrived precisely in Genoa through a maneuver against Pablo Casado. “Some who criticize us so much and try to muddy this Congress with falsehoods and lies would like to come like us, with proposals and ideas that we are going to project as a party and as a Government during the next decade,” the leader highlighted.

In the PSOE they insistently transmit in the “strong leadership” that Sánchez has. For this reason, they “try to stain him” and “attack” his family environment in a “vile way.” “We cannot allow what we are seeing day in and day out, that condemnation on the news without any proof and with falsehoods,” said Cerdán. “The attack on the president is done because he is a socialist,” Housing Minister Isabel Rodríguez also said in the first thematic event.

Beyond Sánchez, Montero has also referred to the need to “revitalize the project and sometimes its leadership” to combat right-wing and far-right governments. A reference to the next territorial processes that will come after the Seville Congress.
