The PSOE spokeswoman in Parliament will play the party leadership in Jaén and opens the door to an internal struggle

The new general secretary of the Andalusian PSOE, María Jesús Montero, premiered the position with an order and a desire. The decision of Angeles Férriz, accustomed to swimming against the countercurrent, means throwing a stone in the so far calm waters of the Jiennense PSOE, controlled by Reyes since 2010 and the most powerful group next to that of Seville. In fact, they are the only provinces in which the Socialists maintain the Provincial Council. But if in Seville it is taken for granted that Javier Fernández will repeat as general secretary without opposition, the question is on his way to becoming more turbulent in Jaén.

Serrano and Montero reorganization

The tensions in several provinces, with several provincial secretaries very answered, have a very particular case in Jaén, a territory in which the strong man for María Jesús Montero will be Juanfran Serrano, national deputy and attached to the Federal PSOE Organization Secretariat. While knowing whether Férriz will have a contritor or not, the truth is that Jaén’s situation is not unique. For now, the general secretaries of Almería, Cádiz, Córdoba, Huelva and Seville have announced – publicly or internally – their intention to opt for re -election, despite the fact that all but Sevillian have internal answer.
