The PSOE on Wednesday has claimed the official legal services of the Senate a report on the compatibilities granted to Víctor Soriano I Piqueras, a lawyer of clean hands in the process against the State Attorney General and advisor to the Senator of the PP Eva Ortiz, who occupies The First Secretariat of the Upper House. As eldiaria.es revealed, Soriano was signed by the senator in January 2024, and from that same summer he is the legal representative of the Ultra organization in the open case against Álvaro García Ortiz for allegedly filtering private data from Isabel’s couple Díaz Ayuso and his negotiation with the Treasury to avoid jail.
The PSOE directs the petition directly to the president of the Senate, the also ‘popular’ Pedro Rollán, to which he claims the documentation on the compatibility granted to Soriano to collect 56,937 euros per year of public money while exercising the law in a Concrete case that affects a position such as the Attorney General. This compatibility was granted by Eva Ortiz herself, who with her signature endorsed that Soriano was going to comply with all the obligations that collect the internal norms of the Senate.
But these compatibilities are not ethereal or “unconditioned,” says the PSOE in the letter registered on Wednesday. They are granted “for the realization of concrete activities on time and partial dedication” that, in addition, should not “prevent or impair the strict fulfillment of the duties of their position as the eventual personnel of the Senate.”
Soriano is hired full -time and with total dedication, because it charges the almost 57,000 euros that correspond to the category of advisor to the Senate. But different people consulted by Eldiario.es In recent days they recognize having seen little or nothing to Soriano in the upper house units.
For the PSOE, not only is the dedication of Soriano to the work for which he charges a public salary is in doubt. They also focus on the role of Soriano as a lawyer of clean hands in the case of the attorney general. “This strict fulfillment of the duties inherent to his position as the eventual Senate personnel is broken by performing the lawyer mentioned in the judicial case that is followed against the State Attorney General,” says the document.
For the socialists, the interests of Soriano collide with those of the Senate, an institution for which she works as an advisor to a PP senator. “This process has acquired a notorious political relevance and has been subject to multiple initiatives of legislative, control and impulse nature registered in this same chamber.” “We understand that a standard decorum and institutional respect makes a person who holds the legal assistance of one of the parties in the judicial case that is followed against the State Attorney General is the trusted personal time of the First Secretary of the First Secretary of The Senate table, ”adds the request.
Possible sanction
The PSOE doubts that Soriano or his boss will inform the Senate of a substantial change in their employment situation such as representing clean hands in the Supreme Court in a case against a position as relevant as the Attorney General.
“It is appropriate to correct this situation, adopting the measures to avoid it and/or, where appropriate, proceed to initiate the corresponding disciplinary procedure, to understand that therefore some disciplinary responsibility has occurred,” says the document, already that “it is evident and notorious that we are faced with a conflict of interest that, once again, places the credibility and institutionality of the upper house in the lowest level.”
The PSOE thus claims the official documentation on the compatibility granted to Soriano. eldiario.es already studied a similar request, but the Senate refused to deliver it.
The socialists demand, in particular, “the terms in which it was granted and information about the type of dedication that, where appropriate, would be agreed to combine both functions and terms of their professional practice as a lawyer in the aforementioned procedure, for Assess the possible situation of incompatibility (personal professional designation, form of remuneration of services and type of commission) ”.
