The DPR Supreme Court will consider the case of the Ukrainian Armed Forces commander who shot civilians
The prosecutor’s office transferred to the Supreme Court of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) the criminal case of the commander of the mortar battery of the 36th separate marine brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), Nikolai Yankovsky. The DPR prosecutor’s office reported this to Lenta.ru.
The prosecutor’s office approved the indictment in the criminal case. Yankovsky is accused in absentia under Article 105 (“Attempted murder of two or more persons, committed in a generally dangerous way, by an organized group, motivated by political, ideological hatred”) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, Article 167 (“Intentional damage to someone else’s property, resulting in significant damage, committed by a generally dangerous method”) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation and Article 356 (“Cruel treatment of the civilian population in occupied territory using in an armed conflict methods prohibited by an international treaty of the Russian Federation”) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
According to the investigation, in February 2022, the 37-year-old commander gave the order to two mortar crews to shell the villages of Sakhanka and Kominternovo, Novoazovsky district of the DPR. As a result of the shelling, a man was wounded and eight residential buildings were damaged.
Earlier it was reported that a Ukrainian military man would be convicted of shooting at civilians in Mariupol.
