It will determine the legality of the action of the Catalan Institute of Finance after a complaint from Citizens
The Superior Prosecutor’s Office of Catalonia will investigate the guarantees of the Institut Català de Finances (ICF) -an organism dependent on the Generaitat- for the guarantees that the Court of Auditors claims from 34 former government officials indicted for the foreign action of the ‘procés’ between 2011 and 2017 All after a complaint filed on Friday by Carlos Carrizosa, leader of Ciudadanos in the Parliament.
The events take place one day after the Court of Accounts requested a report from the State Attorney after doubting the legality of an operation in which, they consider, the Generalitat is a “victim” and guarantor at the same time.
A total of 29 of the 34 perpetrators indicted by the State’s supervisory body, among which are former presidents Artur Mas and Carles Puigdemont, availed themselves of this endorsement. The Court of Auditors expressed “doubts” on Tuesday about the “sufficiency and legality” of the ICF guarantees.
The complaint is also directed against the President of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, the Minister of Economy, Jaume Giró, and the Minister of the Presidency, Laura Vilagrà. The superior prosecutor of Catalonia orders that the complaint against these three people be filed because the Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC) is already examining the matter given the status of the counselors as certified.
