The playwright, screenwriter and stage director Ramón Paso, grandson of the playwright Alfonso Paso and great-grandson of the writer Enrique Jardiel Poncela, has been denounced by the Madrid Prosecutor's Office as the author of several crimes of sexual assault allegedly committed against women between 18 and 25 years, who have reported that the events occurred between 2018 and 2023. According to the lawyer Luisa Estévez Martínez, who represents 14 women who have filed a complaint with the Prosecutor's Office, the public ministry has sent the proceedings to the dean of the investigative courts of Madrid, waiting for the distribution to be carried out.
According to Estévez, the Prosecutor's Office includes in its complaint several crimes of sexual assault, which were sometimes perpetrated continuously, as well as crimes of sexual harassment and harassment, against moral integrity and coercion.
The Prosecutor's Office opened preliminary proceedings in November 2023 and took statements from the complainants, who have confirmed the facts. It's yes', sponsored by the previous Minister of Equality, Irene Montero.
Estévez has sent to the public ministry documents and psychological reports of the victims, who most of the time suffered attacks when they were at the beginning of their careers and were appearing for casting selection tests in which Ramón Paso participated. After collecting their testimony, the Prosecutor's Office questioned the women, who confirmed their complaint regarding events that took place over five years, between 2018 and 2023.
The lawyer alleges that the majority of the women were victims of attacks of different intensities. On April 10, the Prosecutor's Office ordered the end of the investigation proceedings. Once the distribution is made, the head of the court to which the case is attributed will be in charge of accepting the complaint for processing.
