The prosecutor’s office asked to sentence the former governor of the Khabarovsk Territory Viktor Ishaev to seven years in a general regime colony in a case of embezzlement, reports Interfax with reference to the press service of the court.
It is known that the verdict will be announced on February 16.
Another person involved in the case, Gennady Kondratov, was asked by the state prosecution to be sentenced to four years in prison.
Recall that Ishaev is accused of organizing embezzlement on an especially large scale. According to investigators, from 2014 to 2017, he entered into a lease agreement with a company under his control at an inflated cost. An accomplice transferred money to accounts that Ishaev had access to. The ex-head of the Khabarovsk Territory does not admit his guilt.
In December last year, it was reported that Ishaev was hospitalized with coronary heart disease. The former official did not appear at the hearing and his lawyers told the court that their client had a heart attack and was hospitalized.
