Alfonso Hernández Zapata begins a new mandate at the head of the metal employers’ association with the challenge of new classrooms and training workshops
The General Assembly of the Regional Federation of Metal Entrepreneurs of Murcia (Fremm) re-elected this Wednesday as president for the next four years, after no other candidate presented himself, Alfonso Hernández Zapata. And in this new stage, he assured, “the expansion of the federation itself will be pursued, an attempt will be made to make the fourth industrial revolution in the Region a benchmark, and cutting-edge communication will be promoted to develop other industries beyond metal.”
Although the most relevant announcement about the new strategic plan made by the president of the Fremm had to do with the construction of a new training center in Cartagena, a city that “is the largest industrial hub in the Region and requires labor specialized”. It would be a facility for which, according to Hernández, financing of five million euros has been planned, in several phases. “Now we are working on the development of a first phase where we contemplate only four or five workshops and some classrooms”, affirmed the president of Fremm. And he pointed out that the intention of the employers is to start the project next year and that it becomes “a national and international reference.”
«The economic take-off of the Region will be industrial or it will not be; the strategies must go in that direction»
However, he also warned that the financing of said training center must be public-private. “If you don’t put in that collaboration, you won’t be able to get ahead because the amortization periods are very long.”
Hernández did not miss the opportunity to vindicate the regional industry, assuring that it represents 17% of the 32,356 million euros of the GDP of the Community and that it should reach 20% as soon as possible. «The takeoff of regional economic development will be industrial or it will not be. And that is why the growth strategies in our environment go in that direction.”
The event was attended by the president of the Community, Fernando López-Miras, who wanted to congratulate the federation and all the businessmen for re-electing a person who, in his opinion, “has shown in the last four years ample leadership capacity in a such an important sector for the productive fabric of the Region of Murcia».
