Mexico City.- Amalia García Medina, founder of the Party of the Democratic Revolution, assured that this political force was emptied of convictions and that is why it is about to disappear.
García Medina, who was president of the PRD from 1999 to 2002 and governor of Zacatecas from 2004 to 2010, considered that Citizen Movement will now be the social democratic party of Mexico.
“I was national president of that political force, and it especially bothers me (that the PRD loses its registration) because of a democratic conviction, that there must be a plurality of options.
“But the PRD, in its last years, was no longer what we built and what so many founded, among them Cuauhtémoc Cárdenas, Porfirio Muñoz Ledo, Gilberto Rincón Gallardo, Andrés Manuel himself and many more. So it weighs on me, but it was clear come, because it was wasting away, because it was emptying,” said Amalia García, who resigned from the PRD in 2018 when she joined the PAN.
-Why was the PRD emptied? Why did they prefer to go to Morena and other parties? Amalia García, now a deputy for MC, was asked.
“No, he emptied himself of ideas, he emptied himself of approaches, he emptied himself of convictions,” García Medina responded.
Amalia García, who was a leader of the current Foro Nuevo Sol, said that she wanted there to be more political presence of the parties, because that is what makes democracy in a country.
“That is why the Citizen Movement made the determination to stay in the race, because we have a very solid proposal and to a large extent it has resumed the social democratic vision that is needed for Mexico,” he commented in an interview, after a MC press conference.
