The population of Moscow has grown by one million people compared to 2010. This was announced on Monday, October 25, by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Housing and Public Utilities and Improvement Petr Biryukov, reports Telegram-channel “Moscow Speaks and Shows”.
According to him, more than 100 million square meters of residential and non-residential buildings have been built in the capital during this time. Despite this, electricity consumption increased by only one percent. He also noted that the consumption of heat in the capital decreased by 11 percent, water – by 32 percent, and gas – by 18 percent.
“Compared to 2010, the number of pedestrians in Moscow has quadrupled, and the use of bicycle rentals has increased by 23 times,” Biryukov summed up.
Earlier it became known that the all-Russian population census will be held from October 15 to November 14, 2021. All residents of the capital who came to the city more than a year ago can take part in the census. The question form is available on the public services portal from October 15 to November 8.
