All-Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VTsIOM) on Wednesday, March 23, published the results of the survey, according to which the share of Russians supporting the conduct of a special operation in Ukraine amounted to 74%. It is noted that compared to February 25, this indicator increased by 9 percentage points.
46% of respondents believe that the goals of the Russian special operation are to protect Russia, disarm Ukraine and prevent the deployment of NATO bases on its territory.
Political scientist, EISI expert Anna Fedorova, in an interview with Izvestia, expressed confidence that the growth of Russian approval of the special operation in Ukraine is associated with an adequate explanation of its goals, rather intensive and massive information support.
The Russians, she said, were not left to figure out what was happening, but various efforts were made to explain the situation to them.
“Here, of course, first of all, I would note the efforts of Vladimir Vladimirovich (Putin, President of Russia. – Ed.), Who spoke extensively and repeatedly on this issue. I think that for people this is the main source of information about this, which they trust, and here, of course, the right words that the president found were of paramount importance, ”she concluded.
According to the VTsIOM survey, today 61% of respondents believe that the implementation of measures taken by the Russian government to stabilize the economic situation in the country will reduce the negative consequences of sanctions.
