In St. Petersburg, the police found and detained the attacker of two traffic police inspectors during an unauthorized action. About it Interfax reported in the department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region.
Criminal investigation officers identified the man. It turned out to be a 36-year-old IT specialist for a commercial firm. At night, not far from his place of residence on Daniil Kharms Street, he was detained.
The suspect admitted that in the afternoon of January 23, during an unauthorized rally, he jumped on a tow truck. When the traffic police inspector tried to remove him from there, the man attacked and hit him. When the second policeman ran up to him with the intention of arresting him, he also stabbed him.
The Investigative Committee of Russia (TFR) at its Youtube-channel published a video of the suspect, in which he talks about the attack on the police.
The TFR intends to resolve the issue of choosing a preventive measure for a man and bringing charges against him.
Medical assistance was provided to both law enforcement officers. On the fact of the attack on them, a criminal case was initiated under Article 318 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Use of violence against a government official”).
In the afternoon of January 23, uncoordinated actions were held in Moscow, St. Petersburg and other cities of Russia in support of Alexei Navalny, who was arrested on January 18 for repeated violations of the conditions for observing the probationary period in the Yves Rocher case.
