This Monday, the grassroots of Podemos gave their approval to the management to raise the price of the negotiation of the General State Budgets. The party will demand that the Government lower rents by law by 40% and break relations with Israel to give its support to public accounts. 89% of the 38,324 registered participants who participated voted in favor of the question.
The question that those registered have supported was the following: “Do you agree that Podemos agrees with the Government to act against the genocidal State of Israel and stop the housing crisis to cast their vote in favor of the General Budgets?” And the conditions: “That the Government immediately break commercial and diplomatic relations with the genocidal State of Israel, including a total arms embargo. That the rental price be reduced by 40% by law and the purchase of housing in Spain other than for residence is prohibited, in addition to immediately dismantling the squad commandos like Desokupa.”
The party opened the consultation last Tuesday, at 10:00, and closed it at the last minute this Sunday. “Our organization must exercise its power to the maximum and demand that the government at least minimally respect the mandate of the polls,” Belarra told those registered in an institutional statement last Monday after the Executive meeting.
A total of 38,324 people have participated in the consultation. Of them, 34,417 (89.81%) voted in favor of the question. 3,096 have rejected the approach, 8%. And just over 800 people voted blank.
Podemos thus conditions its support not only on public accounts but also on the stability of the legislature. The formation took advantage of the Autumn Uni, the ideological forum that they hold every year and that serves as a kind of launch of the political course, to tighten things up for the Government in a negotiation that already seems complicated. “The people of our country, colleagues, have said enough. And if the people of our country have said enough, Podemos says enough too,” Belarra warned.
