The Podemos bases condition their support for the Budgets on the Government breaking with Israel and lowering rents

“The PSOE will have to accept our conditions.” Podemos puts a price on its vote in favor of the General State Budget (PGE): breaking relations with Israel and lowering the price of rent by 40 percent. The party’s order to the Government, launched last Monday two days before the appearance of the Minister of Housing in Congress, has obtained the endorsement of its militancy. Specifically, the party’s grassroots have supported the leadership’s proposal with almost 90% of the votes.

Podemos thus joins Junts and also puts pressure on Pedro Sánchez’s Executive with its support for the accounts. The party leadership delegated to its militancy the direction of the vote of its four deputies, key in this legislature of fair majorities, based on two conditions: on the one hand, the “immediate” rupture of commercial and diplomatic relations with Israel, including a total arms embargo; and, on the other, “tackle” the Housing crisis by lowering rents by 40 percent, prohibiting the purchase of housing for those who are not going to live in it and dismantling the Desokupa company.

«Our position is clear, firm and clear. If the PSOE wants our favorable vote, it will have to accept these two conditions,” the Podemos Organization Secretary, Pablo Fernández, reiterated this Monday at a press conference, regarding two demands that he considers “common sense” and that “generate a consensus in the vast majority of Spanish society.
