Collin Morikawa leaves The Sawgrass field in the rain.

At least 47 players have yet to finish the first round of the tournament.

For the second day in a row, heavy rain disrupted the day of The Players Championship tournament on the PGA Tour on Friday, which ended up being suspended after just four hours of play.

“Play has been suspended for the remainder of the day at The Players Championship,” the PGA confirmed on its Twitter account.

The time The Players will resume

The organizers will try to resume the competition around 11 am local time on Saturday (same time in Colombia) if conditions are favorable at the TPC Sawgrass course in Ponte Vedra Beach (Florida).

This suspension creates new problems for tournament organizers after Thursday’s chaotic opening round, in which rain and thunderstorms prevented several players from even taking the field.
When play was stopped again this Friday, as many as 47 players had yet to complete their first round.

This was the position table of The Players

The Englishman Tommy Fleetwood and the American Tom Hoge are still at the top of the table for now with their initial cards of 66 strokes, six under par. Fellow American Brice Garnett was also at six under par after his first 13 holes of the first round while Chile’s Joaquin Niemann was in fourth place with his 67 shots on Thursday.

The Colombian Juan Sebastián Muñoz did not see action this Friday,
after having completed his first tour on Thursday with 70 strokes, two under par. At the time of the interruption of the day he was in position 33.
