The Philippine Department of Health announced the detection of the first two cases of the mutated PA2.75 strain of the Corona virus that causes Covid-19 disease, the Manila Times reported on Tuesday.
Maria Rosario Vergerie, an official at the Ministry of Health, said that the two infected people are from the Visayas region, and that one of them received a dose of the vaccine against the Corona virus, while the other did not receive any of the vaccine doses.
Vergerie said that the people who had contact with the injured, their travel dates and their health status are currently being investigated, but they are currently considered to have recovered.
The mutant – which the media calls “centaur” – was first detected in India, and is said to be more contagious and more evasive of the immune system, compared to other omicrons.
