Health detects 2,556 cases during the day on Monday and hospital pressure worsens notably: 42 more admissions in just one day, 15 of them in ICU
The coronavirus pandemic marks a record figure in the Region of Murcia. After a year and nine months attacked by the health crisis, the day of this Monday, December 27, exceeded any barrier in the number of infections. Health detected 2,556 cases in the last 24 hours, a figure never recorded until now. Thus the day with the most infections so far (2,072), on January 12, is overcome.
Of the total positives, 905 correspond to the municipality of Murcia, 325 to Cartagena, 180 to Lorca, 115 to Molina de Segura, 87 to Alcantarilla, 76 to Caravaca de la Cruz, 57 to San Javier, 54 to Águilas, 51 to Las Torres from Cotillas, 50 to Yecla, 45 to Cieza, 40 to Totana, 39 to Jumilla, 36 to San Pedro del Pinatar, 36 to Santomera, 32 to Fuente Álamo, 31 to Archena, 31 to La Unión, 30 to Mula, 29 to Cehegín, 27 to Torre Pacheco, 24 to Abarán, 24 to Alguazas, 19 to Alhama de Murcia, 18 to Pliego, 17 to Calasparra, 17 to Mazarrón, 16 to Bullas, 16 to Ceutí, 15 to Lorquí, 14 to Alguazas. The rest are distributed by the other municipalities.
The epidemiological balance of the last day also shows the most lethal face of Covid-19. This Monday, five people from the Region of Murcia died of coronavirus. They are three men and two women of 66, 60, 85, 86 and 82 years old; three of them from health area II (Cartagena), one from area III (Lorca) and one from health area VI (Vega Media del Segura). The total death toll rises to 1,811.
But the bad news doesn’t stop there. Hospital pressure suffered a severe setback also in the last hours. At the moment there are 331 people admitted for Covid, 42 more in just one day, while the ICUs are beginning to fill dangerously: up to 79 residents of the Community fight against the disease in this part of the health centers, 15 more.
In addition, another 14,309 citizens are in home isolation after testing positive in any of the tests. There are currently 14,640 people with coronavirus in the Region of Murcia. The incidence of infections per 100,000 inhabitants continues to rise and rises to 1,364.6, more than 100 points in 24 hours.
