Regional Development Director of one of the most famous festivals in the world, Burning Man, Steven Raspa, in a conversation with Moslenta, gave advice on organizing art events in Moscow.
He noted that the city should promote the initiative to create spaces where, replacing each other, objects of contemporary art would be exhibited. Raspa believes that in the capital it is necessary to exhibit the works of local artists more often and maintain a constant dialogue with them.
“Traditional sculptures in parks and monuments in squares are, of course, good. But such a classic format for representing art in the city is clearly not enough to show what works are being born in Moscow “here and now”, in response to how the surrounding reality looks like, to the events taking place around,” he said.
The organizer of the Burning Man festival noted that at the moment there are no real venues in Moscow for demonstrating contemporary art, and therefore it is worth organizing one-time events. These, he said, may be free festivals, where the work of local artists will be temporarily exhibited.
Formerly famous film director Karen Shakhnazarov shared his memories of the XV Moscow International Film Festival.
