Today Opel presents the newest member of the GSE family. With the three extra letters, the Opel Grandland GSE immediately sounds a lot more exciting, don’t you think? In addition, it is the most powerful GSE to date, although we have to add that it is also only the second to go into production. The Astra GSE was the first.
Incidentally, the GSE is not as new as it seems at first glance. Earlier we drove the Grandland Hybrid4 with the same 1.6-litre petrol engines, the same two electric motors and the same 300 hp. However, this has disappeared from the configurator. So it seems that Opel gives the most powerful models a new name, with some nice bumpers, rims and badges.
Specifications of the Opel Grandland GSE
Opel does not share a range when you drive fully electric, but it will be about the same size as with its predecessor. That would get you 57 kilometers away purely electrically. That Grandland, despite that 300 hp, did not give us the idea that he wanted to be sporty. Perhaps the GSE can change that with some adjustments.
The top speed is 235 km/h, just like the previous four-wheel drive hybrid SUV. If you give the petrol engine some rest, the top speed is 100 km/h lower. The 0-100 time is 6.1 seconds thanks to the 300 hp and the four-wheel drive. Opel itself speaks about sports car performance, by the way.
What has changed about the Grandland?
So what exactly will change? It gets a rear diffuser and, of course, a GSE badge on the tailgate. It sits on 19-inch alloy wheels that are inspired by the Manta GSE. For a better feel behind the wheel, the GSE SUV gets a sportier suspension with firmer dampers and springs, plus a specially tuned steering system.
You can now compose the Opel Grandland GSE. Prices start in the Netherlands at 59,999 euros, including taxes. This makes it about 7,000 euros more expensive than the outgoing Hybrid4 Ultimate version. Can you say that you have a GSE?
