Russian survivor in Nepal: dead climbers trained hard
The only Russian who survived the climb to Mount Dhaulagiri in Nepal, Valery Shamalo, spoke about the dead climbers. His words leads “Gazeta.Ru”.
Shamalo noted that the group members trained hard all their lives. “Very strong guys, they walk and train all the time. They don’t prepare for a specific climb, they prepare for all their sporting activities,” he said.
In his opinion, climbers may have missed the line “between risk and the desire to succeed.” “If you always give up immediately, you won’t achieve anything either. But how close can you get to the dangerous line? For me, this line turned out to be a little lower than for them,” added Shamalo.
Earlier, Shamalo was evacuated by helicopter from a height of 6.1 thousand meters. He is now in a hospital in the capital of Nepal, Kathmandu, in satisfactory condition, there is no threat to life.
On October 8, it was reported that the bodies of Russians who fell from Mount Dhaulagiri in Nepal still cannot be lifted from the abyss. Due to the fact that the helicopter could not land in the mountainous area, rescuers are going to winch down to the climbers.
