Through his Twitter account, the Ombudsman issued a statement in relation to the case that has as protagonists the actress Melissa Paredes and her ex-partner, the soccer player Rodrigo Cuba. Specifically, the autonomous body referred to the treatment given by the media on the situation involving their daughter and which has been widely commented on in recent days.
In this sense, the Ombudsman expressed a strong criticism of the way in which the different programs that touched on this case have addressed the delicate circumstance in which the minor was involved, and considered that there have been violations that affect the rights of the same. .

“We strongly reject inappropriate treatment of television programs on the private information of a girl whose parents are public figures. Dissemination of her problematic situations impacts the rights of the girl and violates her superior interest, in addition to stigmatizing her, ”said the DP.
Likewise, from the public body they asked the National Radio and Television Society (SNRTV) for its intervention with the aim of putting an end to media broadcasts that imply acts against the protection governed by law for minors.

In the second part of the statement, the DP asked the Ministry of Women and Vulnerable Populations (MIMP) and the Prosecutor’s Office for greater vigilance in situations that could give rise to further damage to the rights of the girl, in order to guarantee the compliance with the norms that protect the daughter of Paredes and Cuba.

It should be noted that hours before the Ombudsman’s statement, the MIMP had issued a statement in which it stated that the Prosecutor’s Office had already been commissioned to begin the corresponding investigations to clarify the details of the case.

“The Ministry of Women and Vulnerable Populations has requested the Public ministry to initiate ex officio investigations, in order to guarantee the safety and integrity of the daughter of Melissa Paredes and Rodrigo Cuba”, he expressed.
On the other hand, the communication given by the ministry coincided with the points established by the Ombudsman’s Office in relation to the treatment of the situation in the media, and they asked that the integrity of the minor be respected and the case be properly addressed.
“As MIMP, we urge the media to carry out responsible information treatment on cases that involve the identity and sensitive information of a girl, boy or adolescent and avoid the dissemination of their personal data, which may directly or indirectly affect the free development of their personality”, the statement read.
