There are stories read, seen a thousand times, in which the typology of the protagonist and his adventures are only variations on themes already widely exploited. So what makes the difference, what can be a reason for interest and ensure that the vision continues? The actor called to play that character.
We say this because otherwise, reading the lines in which we will tell what the TV series is about The Old Man, from September 28 on Disney +, some will certainly think that this is not an original story, even if it is based on a successful novel, written by Thomas Perry in 2017. But to play the protagonist is Jeff Bridges and there is no actor like him able to make even those who are only minimally a lover of cinema smile with love and affection. Or, in this case, TV series.
Dan Chase has always been a maverick, even though he hatched (always dirty) plots for the CIA in Afghanistan in the 1980s, at the time of the Russian occupation. He had supported a local tribal chief discharged by the American government, in his opinion, however, deserving of a very different fate. Too involved in the matter, for reasons that we will discover in the course of the narration, he had forced the course of events, then forced to disappear for decades, together with his beloved wife.
