The Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games began joint work with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on the situation with the Belarusian athlete Kristina Timanovskaya. This was announced on Sunday, August 1, in the press service of the organizing committee.
“The organizing committee is aware of this news, we are working with the IOC to get additional clarifications,” the committee said. TASS.
Earlier on the same day, the National Olympic Committee of Belarus announced that Timanovskaya was being sent home due to her emotional and psychological state. The athlete herself called this information “a lie”. According to Timanovskaya, she is under pressure. So, she was taken to the airport without explanation and was told that she was flying home. The athlete is accompanied by a psychologist and a representative of the NOC of Belarus, as well as local police. On July 31, she turned to the IOC with a request to help her.
On the same day, the IOC announced that they began to study the situation with Timanovskaya.
Earlier this week, the athlete criticized the actions of the coaching staff of Belarusian athletes, saying that she was announced for the 4×400 m relay, while the girl only runs short distances.
