Nutritionist Elena Motova explained why overeating can occur and how to overcome it. The specialist wrote about this in her Telegram channel on Tuesday, February 6.

According to her, people often transmit because they feel bad about throwing away food, but it causes significant harm to the body.

“Give yourself permission not to eat food that your body does not need and will not benefit it. You can start by throwing out one teaspoon at a time to accustom yourself to the idea that this is possible in principle,” Motova quotes Life.ru.

The nutritionist noted that the problem of overeating comes from childhood, when they were taught that food should never be thrown away. As a result, many prejudices remained with many into adulthood. However, according to the nutritionist, you need to eat as much as your body needs, and no more.

The nutritionist noted that due to obesity, people often suffer from diseases of the cardiovascular system, as well as impaired carbohydrate metabolism, which leads to the development of diabetes mellitus.

Last October, candidate of psychological sciences, clinical psychologist at Moscow State University, psychotherapist-practitioner Svetlana Bronnikova advised looking for other ways of emotional regulation that do not include food. This could be, for example, drawing, walking, playing with a cat or listening to music. Also in October, the chief physician of INVITRO-Ural, Nadezhda Podkorytova, warned about the consequences of overeating bread. According to her, abuse of baked goods can lead to increased blood cholesterol levels, insulin resistance, excess body weight gain with subsequent development of diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular diseases.

Previously, psychotherapist and nutritionist Sergei Oblozhko, in order to avoid overeating, advised to identify foods for yourself that make you lose control over eating behavior. According to the expert, as a rule, it is something fatty, sweet or salty.
