The number two of Emergencies during DANA puts his position at the disposal of Mazón who kept it despite criticism

The regional secretary of Emergencies of the Valencian Generalitat, Emilio Argüeso, has placed his position at the disposal of President Carlos Mazón a week after the minister changed and he continues in his position. Sources around Argüeso have explained that it makes no sense to continue when the Minister of Justice and Interior with whom he has worked last year has been dismissed. The same sources explain that Argüeso hopes that Mazón himself will dismiss him at the next plenary session of the Consell that will be held next Tuesday.

Argüeso was number two in Emergencies during DANA and, like the councilor, received a lot of criticism for the management of the catastrophe. On DANA day, Argüeso accompanied the minister on a visit to Carlet and later to the Integrated Operational Coordination Center (Cecopi). The next day and after Mazón took command, who did not arrive at Cecopi until after 7:30 p.m., Argüeso left for the advanced command post that was built in Paiporta.

The new Emergency Minister, Juan Carlos Valderrama, took office last Tuesday and had not yet made a decision about Argüeso’s situation because he had not spoken with him.

Argüeso, a civil guard and local police officer by profession, arrived at the Consell de Mazón after having been one of the people who helped dismantle Ciudadanos in the Valencian Community. Mazón incorporated him into his team as a signing from the orange party to bolster what was a political rival.
