Mowi, a Norwegian company specialized in salmon farming and fish processing, has renovated one of its Zaragoza plants in order to increase its production capacityin addition to reinforcing the product offer.
The company, which has operated in Spain since 2008, has once again opted for the center of Zaragoza with this renovation of the facilities in which it has incorporated advanced technology, which allows processing fish both in bulk and packaged in a protective atmosphere (MAP), company sources explain to theEconomist
“We have allocated significant resources to the modernization of facilities to strengthen our position in the sector. These investments allow us to be at the forefront of technology in the fish processing industry,” they add.
A step with which the company in turn reinforces its offer for the professional market in Spain and Portugal, especially in the fish market. Two markets for which The Zaragoza plant is key in the growth strategy of Mowi, so future plans are already contemplated that involve continuing to work to expand its product portfolio and expansion to new points of sale.
“The objective is to continue strengthening the presence in the Spanish market by launching new products that respond to the needs of consumers,” explain the same sources.

This production center, which has a specialized team of more than 200 peopleis equipped for process bulk fish as free-service products. “This positions us strategically to continue growing in the fish market, one of our key pillars.”
Precisely, in Spain, the company is developing its strategy of expansion in the horeca, professional and retail channel segment. This line includes its range of low-temperature cooked salmon products, launched to respond to the specific needs of the Spanish market.
This commitment to the Zaragoza plant coincides with the 60th anniversary celebration by Mowi. The company, born in 1964 in Bergen, Norway, has undergone a significant evolution since its creation, going from a small fish farming project to becoming a global company with 11,600 employees in 26 countries, distributing its products to more than 70 countries.
The company, which maintains comprehensive control of its value chain, has the Mowi 4.0 technology to optimize sustainable salmon production. Currently, the company is considered the most sustainable animal protein producer in the world. Daily, it feeds about 8 million people.
