During the recent episode of the Xbox Two podcast, the well-known journalist Jez Corden of Windows Central he reported some rumors about the next Xboxon the fact that it will probably include at least two models with a home console and a portable Xbox but it won’t be a single hybrid car.
Obviously they should all be taken as speculations without any confirmed basis, but it must be said that Corden has demonstrated in the past solid connections with Microsoft, therefore he can be considered an insider with a say in the rumors about Xbox, which leads us to take these statements into consideration with curiosity, even if we specify that these are just wild rumors.
Essentially, the journalist responded to speculation that the next Xbox could be a hybrid machine along the lines of the Nintendo Switch by denying that possibility and instead stating that there could be two distinct console models.
The end of paid online multiplayer too?
Instead of opting for a hybrid solution, Microsoft could therefore have both a new classic home Xbox and a portable model in store, both of which will be launched on the market.
“There will be a separate portable and there will be a successor to the Xbox Series X,” Corden explained.
These are always speculations from the Windows Central journalist, but the vision could be interesting, also because many are betting on the possibility that Microsoft intends to launch a portable console, also seeing the great commitment recently demonstrated on theARM architecturefor which the dedicated upscaling system Microsoft Auto Super Resolution has also been launched.
“They will be two different thingsthey’re not just going to make a laptop; there’s going to be a more traditional console for Xbox Series X users, and there’s going to be a laptop as well,” Corden said, who then went on to make another rather unexpected prediction.
“I foresee a successor to the Series X, a laptop, and also the end of paid online multiplayerthat’s my prediction.” According to Corden, in the next generation Microsoft could remove the paywall from online multiplayer, that is, it could make the ability to play online with the new console free, without the need for a subscription.
