In a statement signed by Roberto Rosettiresponsible for UEFA refereeing, explains that the purpose of the measure is to better understand the referee’s decisions as there is not so much friction between many players and the referee.

“We ask that all teams ensure that their captain is the only player who speaks to the referee. We ask that captains ensure that their teammates do not encroach on or surround the referee, allowing direct conversations to occur so that the decision is conveyed in a timely and respectful manner“, Explain.
In addition, he announced the penalty that a player risks if, without being the captain, he complains to the judge about a decision: “Any teammate who ignores the role of his captain and/or approach the referee showing any sign of disrespect or disagreement “He will receive a yellow card.”

Finally, he announces that he will do everything possible to explain these new measures by sending a referee commissioner to each of the teams to discuss and present them.
“Adopting this approach and empowering referees will lead to an increase in the already very high quality of refereeing in our competitions and better matches for players and fans to enjoy during the tournament,” the statement said.
When does the Euro Cup start?
The tournament starts on June 14 this year and will last for a month. The venue for the 2024 edition is Germany and will begin with the match between the teams of Germany and Scotland at the Allianz Arena, in Munich. The closing match will be in Berlin on July 14.
