The next February 17 will be available My Wedding Storiesthe new expansion of Sims 4 Worldwide. Well, all over the world, except Russia. Through a statement, the developers have confirmed that this content will not be available in this countrysince it would go against the regulations of this nation.
In a recently published statement, it was revealed that My Wedding Stories It will not be available in Russia, as it violates federal laws that prohibit content related to same-sex relationships. In this expansion, players have the chance to experience different weddings, including that of Dom and Cam, a gay couple. This was what was said about it:
“When we set out to create ‘My Wedding Stories,’ this was the vision we had for our global community: the joy of finding love, celebrating that love, and telling stories that have meaning on a personal level.
The ability to tell stories, any story, is at the core of what we do in The Sims. Retaining Cam and Dom’s story meant compromising the values we live by. We are committed to the freedom to be who you are, to love who you love, and to tell the stories you want to tell.
So what does that mean for you, our players? We are adamant about upholding that commitment to highlighting and celebrating stories like Dom and Cam’s, which is why we have made the decision to forego the release of ‘My Wedding Stories,’ where our narrative would be subject to change due to federal law.
Unfortunately, this means that members of The Sims community in Russia will not be able to purchase this game bundle.”
Thus, the dev team had the opportunity to edit Dom and Cam’s wedding in order to release this expansion in Russiabut in the end they decided not to publish My Wedding Stories in this country, as it meant removing content that makes clear the importance of representation.
