Twitter users were outraged by the statement of British Prime Minister Liz Truss about her readiness to impose new sanctions against Russia after joining the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. They left comments under the post of the head of the British government.
Truss subscribers found it inappropriate to say that she would not hesitate to take further measures, including imposing new sanctions, to paralyze Russia’s military industry. As the politician added, London does not recognize the DPR and LPR, as well as the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions as part of Russia.
Users in the comments demanded that Truss stop spending money on Ukraine, pay more attention to the country’s internal problems, noting that sanctions harm the UK itself.
According to commentators, the politician does not voice the opinion of the majority on the issue of Ukraine.
“Why not ask the Brits what direction we want to go? You supported the illegal Ukrainian regime for eight years and now you are putting us in danger,” wrote one user.
“Why not do something for the British and stop sending money to Ukraine?” added the second.
“Your sanctions are hurting the British, raising the cost of everything around, in Russia prices do not rise so quickly,” said another.
Users also urged Truss to try to negotiate with Kyiv on a peace agreement with Russia, but added that London is escalating the situation.
“Each of your tweets is dedicated to Ukraine. Does that mean you work for her?” asked one of the commentators.
Earlier, the Israeli edition of Detaly noted that the UK is at risk of losing the status of an economic power due to the policies of the new Prime Minister Liz Truss. The authors recalled that Britain was faced with a severe economic crisis and the fall of the national currency.
September 28 edition of The Independent noted that entrepreneurs in the UK are faced with a huge increase in electricity costs, and some owners of establishments even had to stop work due to the difficult economic situation. At the same time, some forecasts indicate that electricity bills will increase by 500% in the future.
On September 27, representatives of the IMF criticized the economic policy of Liz Truss. They stressed that the decisions of the British Cabinet contradict the current recommendations of the fund. According to BBC columnist Faisal Islam, such a comment in itself is unusual and signals that the world is concerned about the situation in the UK economy.
