Fourteen years after the previous agreement expired, Fedetur signs a new one with CC OO and UGT, whose validity is denied by the regional federation HoyTú and Hostecar
The CC OO and UGT unions and the Tourist Federation of the Costa Cálida (Fedetur), which includes the organizations Hostetur, Hostecar and the Mar Menor Nautical Station, tried yesterday to put an end to one of the most negative chapters of collective bargaining in the Region: the fourteen years that the hotel agreement had not been renewed. Or at least that was what they announced to great fanfare that they had achieved first thing in the morning. The agreement, according to the information provided, would benefit more than 35,000 workers in the region by updating wages and would also help modernize the sector thanks to the training program included in the new agreement.
However, a few hours later the Federation of Hospitality and Tourism Entrepreneurs of the Region of Murcia (HoyTú) and even Hostecar distanced themselves from the agreement and denied it any validity.
MAIN IMPROVEMENTS
-
Salary increase
7.05% in the first year and reach 12.05% in a period of three years. Update of all salary concepts. -
Training
workers bag. Interested employees will be able to enroll and receive attention in various courses, such as customer service, languages, psychology, cooking, etc. -
Working day
More rational working hours, break times and work times.
In a harsh statement released by HoyTú, its president, Jesús Jiménez, considered “inadmissible that an entity like Fedetur negotiate and sign with the unions the renewal of the collective agreement of the hotel industry in the Region when it has no legitimacy to do so.”
Jiménez assured that the only entities legally authorized to negotiate this agreement, together with the UGT and CC OO unions, are HoyTú and Hostecar, and added that “this pantomime has been carried out in secret and we have found out about it through the press. It is scandalous, it is a full-fledged scam, “said the president of HoyTú.
However, CC OO stressed that the agreement is of “general effectiveness with application throughout the territory of the Region of Murcia.” And Soledad Díaz, president of Hostetur, told LA VERDAD that the signed agreement was valid throughout the region. “Companies that do not want to apply it must explain to their workers why they do not do so,” added Díaz.
The new agreement includes a 7.05% rise in wages for this year, in order to recover part of the workers’ purchasing power, an increase that will reach a total of 12.05% over a period of three years with the update of all salary concepts that are included in the document.
Legal measures
HoyTú described the agreement as “embarrassing this grotesque” and “wet paper”, while announcing legal measures. “Everything they have agreed will not have any legal application in the sector. We will take to court any document signed illegitimately », he insisted.
The Association of Hospitality and Tourist Accommodation Entrepreneurs of Cartagena and Comarca (Hostecar) also reneged on the agreement. “We cannot support something that we have not passed through our board of directors and that has not been raised at the negotiating table where we are with Hostemur and the unions,” explained its president, Juan José López Escolar.
Soledad Díaz defended the agreement, considering it “good for the sector” and “for the difficult times we are going through.” “We all had to make an effort and that is what we have done,” added the president of Hostetur.
Hoytú accused Fedetur of “playing with the expectations of 35,000 workers” and the UGT and CC OO of “making fun of everyone”, unions that appeared at the signing of the agreement with their two top regional managers, Antonio Jiménez and Santiago Navarro, who endorsed with their presence a document that they considered “good for a key sector in the Region of Murcia.”
