More than four hundred police officers will ensure security during the ten days of Carthagineses and Romanos, inside the camp and outside it, especially wherever there are crowds of people drinking. The City Council expects a massive and historic influx to the festivities that will be held from September 16 to 25 and has organized a special device, so that visitors and Cartagena “enjoy the festivities with tranquility.” This was explained this Monday by the mayor, Noelia Arroyo, after the Local Security Board, in which local police officers, National Police, Civil Guard, Civil Protection and Firefighters, among others, participated.

Arroyo made special emphasis on the crowds outside the fairgrounds and the camp, where young people gather to drink on public roads. For this reason, he warned that the Police will go to each of the concentrations and will try to avoid them from the beginning. In addition to the usual areas, it will investigate the new ones that are created, where “it will carry out a campaign of sanctions against those who break the rules and bother the neighbors,” he said and warned that the police officers will be firm, because he wants to prevent complaints from being unleashed. neighbors, as occurred during the months of July and August in Cabo de Palos and La Manga.

The Local Police will deploy 250 agents, who will join 150 from the National Police. In addition, there will be mobilized firefighters and Civil Guard agents, who will collaborate in the regulation of road traffic entering the city. They will carry out alcohol and other preventive controls, warned Arroyo.

During the festivities, and as a novelty, the National Police will have an aerial surveillance drone at their disposal, to control the areas of greatest influx and warn when there are large concentrations, such as those of the battalions. In addition, the agents will go by motorcycle and on horseback.

This flying device will support the tasks that will be carried out on the ground by police agents, both national and local. All of them will work in a coordinated manner in the festive area, as well as at the entrances, at the fair and to avoid street vending.

This device will have to be, in addition to the festive events, in other places in the municipality that will host high concentrations of people during those days. And it is that, during the ten days of Carthaginians and Romans, four cruise ships will arrive in the city with more than 7,700 tourists. In addition, the Water Games will be held on September 22 and October 2. This sporting event will bring together some 10,000 visitors in the region, including athletes and spectators.
