The second day of the Uefa Nations League concluded with the match between the Danish National Team and the Austrian National Team, which met last Monday, June 6, at the Ernst Happel Stadium in ViennaAustria.
Although the result was positive for Kasper Hjulmand’s team, winning 2-1, an unusual event stole the eyes of the match. A fairly large hole appeared in the middle of the stadium field when the game was over.
The players of both teams did not miss the opportunity to mock and denounce the dangerous fact. With their cell phones and through social networks, several of the soccer players they uploaded videos in which they showed the size of the hole, in which it was possible to enter the entire foot up to the heel.
“It was like falling into quicksand, total madness. We noticed it in the warm-up, the more we stepped on the grass, the more difficult it got”, added the Danish defender, Joakim Maehle.

An investigation has been opened
There were so many repercussions that the images had that the Austrian Federation assured for the British multinational ‘BT’ that it had opened an investigation to determine the cause of the incident.
“The exact circumstances are being investigated at the moment, but we suspect a connection to the massive rain that fell the night before,” they said.

Although the Ernst Happel is one of the most famous football fields in the world, this is not the first maintenance scandal it has experienced.
That same Monday, the match was delayed due to a power outage that affected the stadium and its surroundings. According to the public broadcaster ‘Österreichischer Rundfunk’, the power outage occurred in district 2 of the capital Austrian and came to affect about 1,500 homes. The reasons for the blackout are still unknown.
