Guamúchil, Sinaloa.- Multiple works were carried out during 1978-1980 under the command of the then mayor of Salvador Alvarado, Regino Lopez Acosta, who can be called as the president of the works, since most of the old buildings of the municipality were built in his Administration. In just two years of government, this mayor managed to manage and crystallize most of the works that make up the city of Guamuchil, Salvador Alvaradoto this day.
The paving of streets, the introduction of drainage, drinking water and electricity in some neighborhoods were some of the public services that were granted the most. “We managed to pave five squares in the city,” he reported, proud of his work.
López Acosta is credited with building the new Municipal Market in the Centro neighborhood. Likewise, the building known today as the UAdeO Guamúchil was built, which initially served as a bus station.

One of his most important works was the establishment of the Municipal Palace, whose land belonged to someone else, but it was in the interest of the owner to agree to deed the space in the name of the H. Ayuntamiento de Salvador Alvarado and receive the equivalent of land in another location.
“I had the honor as president of giving the first and last Cry of Independence on the balcony of the Municipal Palace; the first because that is how his civic history began and, the last, because it was the last year of my administration, ”recalled the former mayor.
Other outstanding works were the Telegraph and Post Office, the Municipal Market, the Convention Center and the Municipal Pool.
A party that they emphasized at that time was the Carnival, because the unity that the community manifested in the organization was unmatched. With the economic results of a Carnival, the House of Culture was built.
During his Administration, the contest was held to define the coat of arms of the municipality of Salvador Alvarado, resulting in Rosi Aragón Okamura winning. With the same relevance, the 70th anniversary of the founding of the city of Guamúchil was celebrated in 1979, where Professor Samuel M. Gil was awarded the Medal of Social Merit.
This is how the Technical Secondary School (ETI) was born, and the creation of spaces for kindergartens through the DIF System. And last but not least, it should be noted that the Guamúchil newspaper EL DEBATE was established in those years.
After the long list of works that gave rise to the growth of the municipality, former mayor Regino López Acosta reaffirmed that without the help of the people it would not have been possible. “I say it with pride, I had the privilege of being municipal president of the extraordinary town of Salvador Alvarado in the golden age of social participation that gave unity and development to our municipality,” López Acosta emphasized.

With great passion and love for his people, he stressed that the municipality was not born from a lawsuit, but from a conviction that the inhabitants had to become a municipality in order to progress, it was a civic struggle. “And so we must continue to remember that fight,” emphasized the former mayor.
