The vehicles will be available from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. and will cover the city and districts such as Puente Bacons
Starting this Tuesday, Murcia opens a new ‘moto sharing’ service, which will allow residents to rent electric motorcycles to move around the city and the districts. The councilors of Urban Planning and Ecological Transition, Andrés Guerrero, and of Sustainable Mobility and Street Cleaning, Carmen Fructuoso, presented this new service, which will allow Murcians to move around the city and its districts.
Andrés Guerrero explained that “a fleet of 150 one hundred percent electric motorcycles will be maintained, which will be operational from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. at first, with the intention of extending the schedule to 24 hours a day later. People over 18 years of age will be able to use these motorcycles and will be required to be in possession of the A1 or B license, with more than three years of experience.
So far there are already around 550 users registered in the application to use this motorcycle rental service in Murcia and districts, as confirmed by city hall sources.
Rent by minutes
Gougo Motosharing is an urban motorcycle rental service by the minute that works very easily from the service’s ‘app’. In addition, you will have a web page with all the information on the operation of the service.
Users will have to register for the service through the web or ‘app’. Once registered, the use of the service is articulated through the ‘app’ in which you can see in a ‘Geofence’ the availability of the motorcycles and the places where they are parked, select the one you are interested in using, and start using it, interacting at all times (start and end of the trip) through the ‘app’, which is very intuitive and offers all the information to follow.
Each motorcycle will have two helmets for use by users. Each user will pay exclusively for the service time consumed from the start of the trip until it ends. Once the trip is over, the user must leave the motorcycle parked, complying with the regulations that the municipal ordinance dictates for motorcycle parking, at any point within the geographical parking areas. The charge is made automatically in the user’s account according to the minutes consumed.
Guerrero added that “initially, these areas encompassed the entire urban center of Murcia, from the Barrio del Carmen to the Thader and Nueva Condomina Shopping Centers, as well as Joven Futura, the university campuses of Espinardo and the UCAM, incorporating the districts de Espinardo and Puente Tocinos, among others. In addition, the system is very flexible and allows this parking area (‘Geofence’) to be quickly adapted to the areas requested by the user so that we can immediately respond to their needs».
For her part, Carmen Fructuoso explained that “this project joins all the projects that are being developed within Murcia en Marcha, the Mobility Plan 2022 – 2025. This project promotes intermodality, allowing all the residents of Murcia use these electric motorcycles and combine their movements around the city and districts with public transport».
In short, said Councilor Fructuoso, “it is about promoting initiatives that help reduce CO2 emissions, also avoiding traffic jams and noise and promoting more environmentally sustainable transport.”

In addition, all users have 20 free minutes when they sign up, a promotion that will continue to be active during the first months of operation of the service. In addition, if someone invites a friend to sign up and they register, the inviter will have five free minutes and the guest will have ten.
As a launch promotion, in addition, the first 1,000 who create their account in the Gougo Motosharing app will have an additional 20 free minutes, that is, they will have a total of 40 free minutes.
On Thursday, September 22, as it is the day without a car, the 20 minutes will be kept free for all users who register that day (even if the first 1,000 registered have already been exceeded).
It should be noted that this system is already implemented in Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, Valencia, Gandía, Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, as well as in the main European cities.
