Driving exceeding the speed limits, after the consumption of alcohol or without a seat belt are
some of the most common offensesmore dangerous and for which they can fine you.
own
General direction of traffic classifies various types of fine. In the first place those of circulation, referring to infractions such as the lack of signaling of maneuvers, speeding, not respecting the priority of way, using the mobile, skipping a traffic light, driving without lights. A second typology encompasses
fines for driving under the influence of alcohol.
A third group refers to the penalties for driving without the necessary permit or authorization to drive the vehicle or doing so with said permit expired. And the last two groups of fines are those that penalize conduct
how to circulate with the expired ITVwith some modification of the vehicle not approved, as well as driving without having the obligatory insurance up to date.
In addition to this general classification, there are other types of fines that may be more unknown or curious, and that sometimes may also depend on the interpretation that can be given to a specific behavior behind the wheel.
For example, as they recall
from the raceno more people than allowed can travel in the car, so care must be taken with the homologation of the vehicle, especially in smaller ones, which can sometimes have capacity for five people even if it is only homologated for four seats.
If you break this rule you can be fined up to 500 euros,
withdrawal of the driving license three months and four points lesssomething to which you are exposed if the number of authorized seats exceeds 50% without having the driver (very serious offence).
It is also considered very serious to brake recklessly (500 euros and six points on the driver’s license) or serious if the car is stopped or immobilized without justified reason (200 euros).
Throwing objects on the road or in its vicinity can result in a fine of 200 euros and four points on the license. They can even withdraw your permit if you throw a cigarette butt or some other type of object that could cause fires, accidents or hinder circulation.
It is also important
respect cyclists, since they are considered very vulnerable users. The traffic regulations state that the driver of a vehicle who intends to overtake a cycle or moped, or a set of them, must do so occupying part or all of the adjoining or opposite lane, where appropriate, of the road and keeping a safety width of at least 1.5 meters, except when the road has more than one lane in each direction, in which case a complete change of lane will be mandatory. It is forbidden to overtake endangering or hindering cyclists traveling in the opposite direction, even if these cyclists are riding on the shoulder. Improperly overtaking a cyclist or a group of them, hindering their movement or putting them in danger, will result in the withdrawal of 6 points from the license and a fine of up to 200 euros.
If you get too close to the car in front of you without respecting the safety distance, the fine can reach up to 500 euros, with 6 points removed from the driving license, considered reckless driving.
Other unknown offenses range from not wearing warning triangles, not wearing a reflective vest, driving without having passed the ITV, to driving with an expired license, without lights, dazzling or with a dirty or worn license plate.
The fine will be 200 euros. If you flash your lights at another vehicle, the fine is 80 euros.
It is also forbidden to refuel with the vehicle or the lights on or the radio on because you could be fined 200 euros and three points removed from your driving license.
If you go through a hospital or an area considered ‘rest’ remember to lower the volume if you do not want to be penalized with a fine ranging from 80 to 100 euros.
This amount can amount to 2,400 euros if you dedicate yourself to passing through a street with the volume very high and you do not let the neighbors rest.
The horn can only be honked in an emergency, otherwise the fine can be up to 80 euros.
In addition the
General Circulation Regulation, for example, establishes that the headlights or license plates may not be dirty, broken or with traces of ice or snow, as this interferes with the visibility of the vehicle. Having the car in these conditions can mean, depending on the interpretation of the authorities and the level of the infraction, a fine of up to 3,000 euros.
Urban legends
On the other hand, the General Traffic Regulations oblige the driver to guarantee freedom of movement. This has created the urban legend according to which you can be fined
for wearing the coat. This extreme, like that of driving with flip-flops or without a shirt, is not specified in any regulation of the DGT. But we will always depend on the interpretation that the authorities can make, since if they stop us and consider that due to any of the above factors they limit our movements and therefore pose a danger to driving, they could impose a fine on us. of 200 euros.
As for the documentation that we must carry in the car, they include the driving license: either the definitive one or the provisional authorization issued by the Traffic Headquarters; vehicle circulation permit, which contains the technical data of the vehicle and the data of its owner, and finally, the technical inspection card of the vehicle with the latest ITV report and the corresponding sticker affixed to the windshield. The infraction for not carrying one of these documents is minor and is punishable by a fine of up to 100 euros.
But nevertheless
it is wrong to think that we have to carry the insurance policy. Moreover, since 2008 it is not compulsory to carry the insurance policy and receipt in the car, since the agents can check on the spot if the vehicle is insured. However, the DGT recommends taking them anyway.
It is mandatory
wear glasses or corrective lenses vision if it is stated on our driver’s license, but it is an urban legend to have to carry a spare pair of glasses in the glove compartment of the car. Again from the DGT they consider that it is recommended, but of course they cannot fine us for not even carrying spare glasses or contact lenses.
