The sales of 250 plates of ham from eLPOZO will help those most in need of the Food Bank of Segura
She is tired, but she keeps staring at the ham in front of her to cut thin slices. The ham slicer Susana Pérez works as a nurse at the Virgen de La Arrixaca hospital and has spent the night on duty. “I have left the job and I have come running here, because it is always gratifying to work for others,” he says while sharpening one of his knives to clean the stock of eLPOZO in front of him. “I do whatever it takes to help those who need it most, and even more so when it is a matter of solidarity,” he smiles.
The congress
Gastronomic Region of Murcia This Sunday hosted the Solidarity Court organized by eLPOZO with the collaboration of the Association of Ham Cutters of the Region (Asojam). And the act was a success.
The five specialists in leaving hams ‘clean’ gave a show on the art of slicing ham. The head of the eLPOZO Protocol, Cristina Pacheco, explained that “these people come selflessly to cut five reserve gold series hams. Each plate will be sold for three euros, and the entire proceeds will go to the Banco de Alimentos del Segura ».
For his part, the president of Asojam, Ginés Muñoz Vera, pointed out during the meeting that “we are a charitable association, that we charge absolutely nothing. And this type of event helps us to encourage people to become cutters, since it is something very beautiful, and even more so when the end is in solidarity ». Muñoz also stressed that this organization usually helps in different initiatives. «We collaborate with the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC). In fact, one of the cutters and I are experiencing this disease, so we always try to help those who need it most.
During the day all expectations were met, as each of the cutters produced between fifty and sixty plates of ham. The eLPOZO representative celebrated the success in the sales of the dishes, since “it is very nice to be able to collaborate with those most in need.” The event lasted about four hours, and the dishes lasted relatively little on the tables, since those attending the gastronomic congress did not hesitate to collaborate with this charitable cause, which also served to taste a “spectacular” product.
