VTsIOM: Russians called VK Video the most popular Russian video platform
Russian Internet users most often watch videos on the VK Video platform, according to the results of a survey conducted by the All-Russian Center for the Study of Public Opinion (VTsIOM). About this reported on the organization’s website.
Russians named videos on VK Video the most popular Russian video platform—65 percent of respondents watch videos there. 60 percent use YouTube, 54 percent use Zen Video, 54 percent use NUUM and 50 percent use Odnoklassniki. Users of Twitch (54 percent), Odnoklassniki (42 percent), Zen Video (40 percent), RUTUBE (34 percent) and YouTube (25 percent) most often prefer to watch content on computers and laptops. To a lesser extent, tablets (2–4 percent) and TV with set-top box, Smart TV (2–16 percent) turned out to be popular.
Most often, Russians watch films and TV series (56 percent), news (53 percent), humor and entertainment content (51 percent), content about education, enlightenment and science (49 percent), hobbies and hobbies (48 percent), music, videos and performances by artists (45 percent). Content about travel (38 percent), videos on technology and gadgets (26 percent), beauty and health (25 percent), economics and finance, psychology (23 percent each), and computer games (22 percent) are quite in demand. Thematic areas of content such as sports and fitness, business (17 percent each), family and raising children (16 percent) and fashion and shopping (12 percent) are mentioned somewhat less often in the answers.
The top 3 video services according to user ratings included YouTube (71 percent), VK Video (54 percent) and Zen Video (51 percent). Next comes Twitch (46 percent). At the same time, YouTube users have the highest share of those who abandoned the service – every fifth (21 percent) noted that they had previously used the platform, but now they do not.
59 percent of respondents admitted that they use VK Video several times a day or almost every day. YouTube has this figure – 78 percent. The top 5 also included “Zen Video” (54 percent), RUTUBE (43 percent) and “Video in Odnoklassniki” (41 percent).
“In general, these studies indicate high user satisfaction with the main video services in Russia, as well as the growing competitiveness of Russian platforms,” said VTsIOM.
