Suqia UAE, operating under the umbrella of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives Foundation, announced the extension of the registration period for the fourth session of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Water Prize, worth one million dollars, which aims to find sustainable and innovative solutions to address the problem of water scarcity around the world.
A statement issued yesterday stated that companies, research centers, research institutes, innovators and young people from all over the world can complete and submit applications to participate in the award until the end of this May.
The award aims to encourage the development of innovative projects, technologies and models in the field of water desalination and purification, using renewable energy sources that include solar energy, wind energy, biomass energy, hydropower, osmotic energy, and geothermal energy.
The award contributes to supporting the sixth goal of the 17 sustainable development goals adopted by the United Nations for the year 2030, which is to ensure the availability of water and sanitation services for all, by stimulating innovation and investing in the latest technologies to help less developed societies achieve sustainable development.
The award includes four main categories: the Innovative Projects Award, which includes the categories of small projects and large projects, the Innovation Award in Research and Development, which includes the categories of national entities and global entities, the Individual Innovations Award, which includes the categories of Distinguished Researcher and Youth, and the Innovative Solutions to Crises Award.
It is noteworthy that during the previous three sessions of the award, 31 winners from 22 countries were honored.
