More than 60 percent of accidents in Russia involving foreigners were their fault. It is reported by TASS with reference to an overview of road traffic accidents in the country compiled by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
From January to September 2021, in the vast majority of accidents involving foreigners, the culprits were people from Armenia, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan. To a lesser extent, citizens of Belarus and Kazakhstan were noticed in accidents.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, drivers from other countries account for about four percent of all accidents in Russia.
The department also noted that the number of traffic violations committed by visitors from the CIS countries increased by 3.6 percent in nine months. This is most noticeable in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Moscow and Sakhalin regions.
Earlier it was reported that the parliament of the Chechen Republic submitted to the State Duma a bill prohibiting the mention of the criminal’s nationality in the media. The authors of the initiative believe that the bill is necessary to preserve interethnic and interfaith harmony in Russia.
