The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia is currently not preparing a document on the inclusion of the column “nationality” in the passport. This was announced on Monday, August 2, at the press service of the department.
“Currently, the draft normative legal act aimed at including the” nationality “column in the passport is not being developed in the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia,” TASS message from the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
On July 25, the chairman of the State Duma Committee on Nationalities Affairs Ildar Gilmutdinov made a corresponding initiative. According to him, several small peoples living in Russia would like to have a similar mark on their identity cards.
On July 16, the government of the Russian Federation reduced the time for issuing a Russian passport; from July 1, 2022, it will be no more than five working days. The validity of passports to be replaced when citizens reach the age of 20 and 45 will be extended to 90 days.
In addition, the Cabinet has extended the deadline for submitting documents for obtaining a passport for citizens who have reached the age of 14, it will be 90 days.
To date, the current regulation on the passport of citizens of the Russian Federation can receive a document for persons aged 14 to 20 years, from 20 years to 45 years, from 45 years old – indefinitely.
