María Isabel Campuzano suggests the president of the Association of Private Teaching Centers of the Region of Murcia to lead the body
The Minister of Education, María Isabel Campuzano, chaired this Tuesday the extraordinary session of the School Council of the Region of Murcia, where she announced her proposal for José Francisco Parra as the next president of the organization, “a figure with an undisputed trajectory and prestige in the world educational and social, both in the Region of Murcia and at the national level. Likewise, she added that “he is a person of consensus, a tireless fighter for the common good, a deep connoisseur of the educational reality of the Region and an expert in regulations.”
José Francisco Parra is president of the Association of Private Teaching Centers of the Region of Murcia, professor of Physics and Mathematics, Bachelor of Pedagogy, teacher and educational director. He is also part of the School Council of the Region of Murcia since his birth, 24 years ago. Since then, he is an active part in its development and operation. “This circumstance makes him a perfect connoisseur of the institution, its functions and its operating regulations,” said Campuzano in his appearance before the members of the educational body.
This is how the counselor will transfer it to the Governing Council, where she will propose the appointment of Parra for his “academic, professional career and his experience within the organization, which makes him the right person and who meets all the requirements,” concluded the head of Education .
The School Council
The School Council is the highest body for the participation of the social sectors involved in the general programming of education at non-university levels in the Region of Murcia, and for consulting and advising the regional government on non-university education.
Its functions include debating the draft standards that the regional educational Administration submits for its mandatory opinion in relation to the development of basic State regulations and the general programming of education; make reports on matters requested by the Ministry of Education; prepare a report on the situation of the educational system in the Region of Murcia every two years and annually prepare a report on activities.
CC OO denounces the appointment
CC OO Enseñanza de la Región de Murcia considers this appointment “one more gesture in the strategy of dismantling public education.” The union believes that the fact that the management of the entire public system is in the hands of private education is not a bad decision or the result of political adjustments, but rather a strategy designed to divert public resources to private education.
For Nacho Tornel “Mr. José Francisco Parra Martínez (CEC) does not represent either the teaching staff or the public administration, so as a representative of the private centers he will watch over his own sector.” This appointment, added to that of the general director of Universities and Research, María Isabel Fortea, professor at UCAM, only demonstrates “the clear inclination of the regional government for private education and its desperation to win votes.”
