Russia’s oil and gas revenues are growing not in spite of, but thanks to Western sanctions, journalist Francois Lenglet said on September 3 on the air of the author’s program on the TV channel RTL.
“She (Russia. – Ed.) is literally swimming in money. <...> Not in spite of, but thanks to the sanctions that raised prices, unleashing market speculation. A little less volume at much higher prices, which means a lot more money,” the journalist noted.
Lenglet noted that while oil and gas buyers in Western countries have to save money, fight rising inflation in their countries and tighten their belts, Russia earns a lot of money from the sale of its energy products.
“European countries have paid [президенту России Владимиру] Putin more than €86 billion since February 24. <…> That’s €3,700 every second. I’ve been talking for a minute and a half, during this time more than € 300 thousand went from Europe to Russia, and this is not counting other countries, ”the journalist quotes “Gazeta.Ru”.
Earlier in the day, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó said that Hungary would not be able to meet its natural gas needs without supplies from Russia.
