New sanctions against Moscow will not have a significant impact on the Russian economy, Russian President Vladimir Putin will be able to support it through oil and gas revenues. This was announced on Saturday, October 1, by journalist Daniel Flatley in an article for the agency. Bloomberg.
“The paradox of the sanctions is that Russia, on the contrary, has increased revenues due to rising energy prices,” the publication quotes the words of US Senator Bill Cassidy from Louisiana.
Flatley said the situation raises a “fundamental question” about the effectiveness of Western restrictions on Russia.
The day before, the United States introduced a new package of sanctions against Russia, which included dozens of individuals and legal entities. A number of members of the State Duma and the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, as well as companies from China, Belarus and Armenia, were subject to restrictions for supporting Russia.
On September 30, Putin signed agreements on the entry of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR), Kherson and Zaporozhye regions into the Russian Federation. The signing ceremony took place in the Georgievsky Hall of the Grand Kremlin Palace.
In his speech, Putin said that the prospect of imposing sanctions against Russia excites not all states. The head of state noted that everyone who tries to challenge Western hegemony is considered an enemy. According to him, the US and NATO military doctrines are based on dominance.
On September 26, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov called the US sanctions pressure against Russia completely exhausted.
Prior to that, on September 22, it was reported that the US Treasury began looking for a sanctions specialist who would help avoid the negative impact of restrictions on the country’s economy.
On February 24, Russia launched a special operation to protect Donbass. The decision was made against the backdrop of the aggravated situation in the region due to increased shelling by Ukrainian troops.
