In Spain, you can see an infinite number of traffic signs that have a common objective: achieve a high degree of road safety and, at the same time, reduce the number of traffic accidents and deaths that occur on our country’s roads.
However, the latest update of these signs has generated certain doubts among users in the Iberian territory, since there are many drivers who They don’t know their meaning and therefore insecurity on the road grows exponentially.
What is the sign that some drivers are unaware of?
Currently, there is a signal distributed throughout the Spanish roads that generates uncertainty due, according to some users, to its little information. We are talking about the insignia that has two arrows (one red and one black, of different sizes) pointing in opposite directions.
This signal, which It is called R29is related to the preference of advance, that is, if you are in an area where only one vehicle can pass on the road, depending on the side of the road where you are located, you must give way to the car right in front of you.
Which vehicle will have preference? Well, the car that hits the sign in front will be in charge of giving way to the other vehicle, otherwise you would be inferring the traffic rules, and could be sanctioned if you are ‘hunted’ by the different traffic agents.
What are the new signs of 2024?
The General Directorate of Traffica few months ago, released the new signals in order to update the General Traffic Regulations and adapt to new times in terms of social level and mobility. Therefore, the organization led by Pere Navarro, with these new modifications, will seek to reinforce, above all, user safety with greater vulnerability.
- P-33: reduced visibility.
- R-118: ban on electric scooters.
- P-35: corresponds to the signaling of crossed trajectories.
- R-120: prohibit access to polluting vehicles.
- P-24a: they alert the population of animals in the wild.
- P-21b: area frequented by elderly people.
- P-20a: pedestrian crossing.
- P-8: level crossing without. barriers.
- Sign R-308a and R-308b will disappear, corresponding to the prohibition of parking on even and odd days.
What are these new signals for?
The General Directorate of Traffic, as we have indicated above, has deployed new signs that contain certain intelligent technologies and different visual improvementsand whose main objective is to achieve much more effective and safer driving.
On the other hand, in the not too distant future these signs will have indicators that alert drivers of the presence of animals close to the road, in such a way that it will force the speed reduction of users traveling through the area.
With the implementation of these measures, which above all will benefit the animal world and preserve the natural environment, it is believed that will reduce the number of accidents of animals in the wild, and in turn, the number of deaths from this type of traffic accidents will be reduced, in addition to reinforcing the safety of the most vulnerable citizens.
