One of the two Ukrainian drones that fell in the city of Oryol on January 9 caused damage to a multi-story residential building. The blast wave broke the glass there, said Mayor Yuri Parakhin.
Parakhin clarified that earlier that day two unmanned aerial vehicles fell in the city, and another one in the Oryol municipal district. One of the drones subsequently caused damage to a multi-story building.
“The glass was broken by the blast wave. The operational services of the city and regional security forces are on site. The Orel administration has created an emergency commission, which, together with the management company and specialists from the regional administration, is engaged in restoring damage and is in constant contact with residents,” the city mayor wrote on the Telegram channel.
Earlier on January 9, the governor of the Oryol region, Andrei Klychkov, reported that two drones fell on a fuel and energy complex (FEC) facility on the territory of Oryol. He added about eliminating the consequences of drone falls and called on citizens to remain vigilant.
On January 8, the governor of the Bryansk region, Alexander Bogomaz, reported that two Ukrainian drones were shot down by the Russian air defense system in the Klimovsky district of the region. The Ministry of Defense added that this happened around 17:00.
The Ukrainian armed forces are trying to strike Russian territories against the backdrop of a special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022. The decision to hold it was made against the backdrop of an aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
