“I recognize that the wording of the letter was not the most accurate with the information that should be transmitted,” clarifies Eliseo García
The mayor of Molina, Eliseo García, denied any “favorable treatment” by Infomolina, in relation to the news published by LA VERDAD in which a letter addressed to Molina businessmen to support a new local newspaper is reported.
«There is no contractual relationship with this medium, nor has its start-up been financed. There is only the usual relationship as with any other medium, and the possibility of future advertising insertion in it, as is common to publicize the enormous amount of activities and work that we do so that Molina de Segura reaches the level that is deserves,” he said.
The councilor indicated at a press conference that the promoters of this publication met with him, “as we do with anyone who asks us for an appointment”, and clarifies that the head of service and the rest of the department’s staff were present at the meeting of press. In this meeting they presented to the City Council their project for a local newspaper, free circulation, with a bimonthly periodicity. They also presented him with the business project.
García Cantó pointed out that the Consistory’s press and protocol service saw this initiative in the municipality as positive, “because your business project could be interesting as a printed local information medium in a municipality where this type of publication is lacking.”
«From the moment they told us that they were starting up, the press department sends out press releases and information on events, which they began to cover as a local media outlet, as is done with the rest of the media. communication,” he said.
According to the account of the events explained by the mayor, from the press and protocol service a letter was written introducing the medium to companies, businesses and establishments, making this business initiative known, expressing its support and requesting their collaboration, as it is of a project that starts in the municipality, as, on the other hand, is usually done, supporting the initiatives of entrepreneurs who are committed to our town.
“In view of the confusion created, I recognize that the wording of the letter was not the most accurate with the information that should be transmitted, and it erroneously implied that the City Council already collaborates financially with this new medium, when it does not exist no contractual relationship with it. Nothing was contributed until seeing if the project was consolidated and had signs of continuity », he admitted.
The first mayor finished by saying that “from the good faith with which I have always acted in my capacity as mayor of Molina de Segura, I want to say that our only intention is to publicize a business initiative that can be interesting for our municipality, as always I have done to support the business initiatives that arise in Molina de Segura».
Infomoline
For its part, Infomolina sent a statement clarifying that “we have no personal or contractual relationship with the mayor or with the Molina de Segura City Council, we have only received the aforementioned letter for businessmen and businesses in the area with so that they trust our project to advertise themselves».
And they remarked that this newspaper “does not receive money from the City Council or from any political party; It is only financed with the effort of its team and the Molina companies that support us with advertising».
“We are saddened and surprised that an initiative of this type is politicized in this way, since since the project was presented it was enthusiastically received by associations, political parties and institutions,” they continued in the statement addressed to LA VERDAD .
And they added that “it also strikes us that at no time have they contacted us to verify said information as corresponds to quality journalism.”
From Infomolina they defend that their objective is to inform their neighbors of the events of the municipality and give a voice to the different Molinense associations. They clarify that the newspaper will be free and will be published every two months. The publication, which responds to a family project, is already published in digital format and in it “we reflect the events that have taken place in the city, present and future, through its City Council, regardless of its political ideology, since we would do it in the same way governs the political party that governs at that time.
